Jessica Glenza, a general assignment reporter and producer at Thunderdome, just won Journalist of the Year for Digital First Media's small daily newspapers.
Her coverage of the Twitter bullying of rape victims gained national and international attention, becoming one of The Register Citizen's most-read stories of all time. The story, and the story of the story, was covered by the New York Times, the CNBC documentary "#TwitterRevolution," Jezebel and Columbia Journalism Review, among others.
The work led to The Register Citizen's newsroom-wide Public Service Award.
Glenza is originally from St. Petersburg, Fla., where she first interned at a community radio station (WMNF 88.5 FM). St. Petersburg, a great news-town and home to the Poynter Institute, taught her to love storytelling and to seek the truth.
