Julie Westfall

Julie Westfall is the Breaking News Editor for Digital First Media. In her role, she's focused on the coverage, packaging and delivery of breaking news across digital platforms. She leads a team of six editors and producers who are charged with staying on top of what is happening now, and are focused on developing the best news presentations for desktop and mobile platforms.

Previously, she worked in digital news editing roles at KPCC, an NPR affiliate in Los Angeles, and the regional news startup TBD.com in Washington, D.C. She also worked in community newspapers in D.C. and was the managing editor of the Voice of the Hill, a paper and website for the Capitol Hill neighborhood.

Ms. Westfall grew up in Florida, and holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. While earning her degree, Ms. Westfall worked as an intern at several daily newspapers, including the Sarasota Herald-Tribune, Anchorage Daily News and the State Journal-Register. Prior to beginning her post-college career, Ms. Westfall served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Mali.

Ms. Westfall currently lives in New York City.
