Chris Hopkins

Christopher Dean Hopkins is the World Channel Manager for Digital First Media's Project Thunderdome, handling the launch of the channel and its content while working on other newsroom-wide projects. Prior to that he was Deputy Breaking News Editor, working on the news team's planning efforts as well as its strategy for aiding network papers in large breaking news scenarios. He's also served as Opinion Channel Manager and a News Producer.
Prior to joining DFM in 2012, Mr. Hopkins spent five years at The Washington Post, first as a producer for’s Live Online series of online discussions, then editing and managing online initiatives for the paper’s local politics and government team – including efforts around the 2009 inauguration of Barack Obama -- and finally relaunching and managing content on
Before that Mr. Hopkins was online editor for The Olympian in Olympia, Wash., and a copy editor at the Caller-Times in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Mr. Hopkins grew up outside Portland, Ore., was the fifth online editor of the University of Kansas’s student paper, and recently moved to Park Slope in Brooklyn, N.Y. He misses Mike Royko, William Safire, David Broder, Christopher Hitchens and Hunter S. Thompson.
